The BrandLab Fellow Program
“The BrandLab’s mission is to change the face and voice of the marketing and advertising industry. We empower young talent from Indigenous, Black, Brown, AAPI and Hispanic/Latinx backgrounds to launch sustainable careers in thriving workplaces of creativity, inclusivity and belonging.”
This BrandLab Fellow experience is an 8 month rotation between Optum, Best Buy & Wunderman Thompson. Spending 4 months at either of these companies to gain real world experience in different work environments. My first rotation was at Optum, working under Matthew Starchak as creative. In this role I worked heavily on the new Optum brand from white papers/sell sheets to icon illustrations. While working at Optum I was able to work on projects for companies within Optum, such as the Advisory Board and United Health.
When conceptualizing ideas within the new Optum brand I was faced with the challenge of leaning away from my personal style of design and adapting to the new Optum identity. Through multiple iterations of icon illustration, Linked-In graphics, Sell Sheets, White Papers and Advisory Board Illustrations I was able to learn the new identity and effectively represent it through these projects.

Rotation 2
Wunderman Thompson
In my second rotation of the Fellowship program I worked under Kristine Baumgardner on her creative team. During my 4 months with Wunderman Thompson I worked primarily on the Sherwin Williams account. Within this account I conceptualized storyboards, helped the team with layout designs, PPT templates and was able to attend a site day at Sherwin Williams. I also contributed to in-house design needs.
